A 12-month, limited-term, non-tenure-track postdoctoral fellowship funded by external sources and renewable subject to funding availability. Anticipated start date: October 1, 2026.

About the role

This position focuses on building a wood and related composites research platform centered on composite manufacturing and characterization. The fellow will develop new research ideas, write research proposals, and publish high-impact research articles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new research ideas in wood and related composites.
  • Write and submit research proposals.
  • Publish high-impact research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders on a highly visible research topic.
  • Ensure timely completion of research deliverables.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in wood science, forest bioproducts, or a closely related field at the time of employment.
  • Expertise in wood-based composites, wood polymer composite manufacturing, and characterization.
  • Experience with thermally modified wood and its characterization.
  • Strong research background in wood product development.
  • Familiarity with wood-related composite manufacturing and characterization.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment (no sponsorship).
