About the Program

The NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health (NCTH) at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship through the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR)-funded Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Training Program in Individualized Care for At-Risk Older Adults (T32NR009356). The program prepares the next generation of nurse scientists to conduct innovative research that improves the health, healthcare experiences, and quality of life of older adults and their family caregivers during complex health and healthcare transitions.

Training and Mentorship

Fellows receive individualized mentorship from nationally recognized interdisciplinary faculty and advanced training in research methods, implementation science, dissemination and translation, grant writing, leadership, project management, bioethics, and team science. The program is designed to support the development of independent nurse scientists committed to advancing evidence-based care for older adults and their caregivers.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Nursing (completed prior to appointment start date)
  • Active professional nursing license
  • Commitment to full-time research training
  • Strong interest in aging, chronic illness, family caregiving, health transitions, or nursing science
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in pursuing an independent program of research
  • U.S. citizen or noncitizen national or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of appointment
