Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and implement methods to maximize the expression and activity of integral membrane metalloenzymes and associated proteins.
- Carry out activity assays using a GC-MS.
- Measure metal concentration using an ICP-MS.
- Characterize proteins using a range of spectroscopic techniques.
- Synthesize organic substrates as needed.
- Shephard a new research direction into the role of the metalloenzyme AlkB in catalyzing the oxidation of long-chain alkanes.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
- Experience with organic synthesis.
- Excellent data and materials management and note-booking skills.
- Creative problem-solving abilities with a focus on achieving goals.
- Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a team.
