About the role

The Department of Physics at Morgan State University seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on the growth and characterization of wide bandgap semiconductors, including cubic boron nitride. This is a collaborative position bridging Physics and Electrical/Computer Engineering, with opportunities to mentor students, publish research, and present at professional meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare semiconductor samples and conduct experiments
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and characterization tools
  • Prepare manuscripts and present results at conferences
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students
  • Record and document experimental procedures and results

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: PhD in Physics or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experimental research experience
  • Hands-on experience in crystal growth, characterization tools, and laboratory maintenance
  • Proven publication record in academic writing
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills, Attention to detail and precision in experimental work, Ability to mentor students and work collaboratively in a research team
