Postdoctoral Fellow – Child Diagnostic Psychology

Soar Autism Center is building a network of interdisciplinary clinics where children with autism and their families receive services that help them thrive. We provide naturalistic ABA therapy (ESDM), speech therapy, and occupational therapy to children with autism. We also provide diagnostic services to help families quickly access integrated, collaborative care, enabling continuity of care during and after the transition to therapy. Soar clinicians develop individualized therapy plans in coordination with families, setting ambitious goals that focus on building skills for children to grow into their fullest selves. We prioritize early intervention, comprehensive supportive services, and positive, developmentally-appropriate learning.

About the role

The postdoctoral psychology fellowship program at Soar Autism Center provides a year of intensive, specialized training in autism evaluation for early childhood (birth to 5 years of age). Training is designed to promote competencies in autism evaluation, interaction with children and families, and collaboration with professionals providing direct intervention services. The fellow will also develop skills in differential diagnosis, consultation, and program development and evaluation.

Location

We are seeking candidates in the Denver region. Multiple locations are available, and the specific site may vary depending on the direct supervisor’s location. Flexibility to work from home on report writing or other non-direct tasks is available.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 4–5 diagnostic evaluations per week using standardized assessments (ADOS-2, Developmental Profile (DP-4), BASC-3, and other clinically appropriate measures).
• Formulate diagnostic conclusions and treatment recommendations.
• Communicate results thoroughly with families.
• Provide high-quality and efficient services, including well-documented reports.
• Participate in required supervision and offered trainings.
• Additional opportunities may include post-diagnosis processing groups for families, research projects, and/or community outreach, based on candidate interest and alignment with Soar’s mission.

Qualifications

• Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical or School Psychology from an APA-accredited university.
• Completed or in the process of completing an APA-approved clinical internship.
• Experience evaluating Autism Spectrum Disorder in children aged 0–5 years.
• Experience in differential diagnosis within autism evaluations.
• Understanding of effective autism treatment methods.
• Ability to pass a background check and eligibility to work in the United States.
• Strong communication and consultation skills.
