Postdoctoral Fellow - Cancer Research
Position Summary
The Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) will contribute to a research program focused on developing novel small molecule therapeutic approaches for solid cancers within the Vascular Biology and Translational Research Laboratory. Reporting to Professor Levon Khachigian and Head of the Laboratory, the role will undertake high-quality experimental research using a range of molecular, cellular and animal model techniques to advance the understanding and treatment of cancer. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team, the Postdoctoral Fellow will design and conduct experiments, analyse and interpret research data, contribute to publications and the dissemination of research findings, and support the broader research program.
Key Skills Required
- A PhD in Medical Sciences or a related discipline, and relevant work experience.
- Expertise in cancer biology is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise and practical surgical experience in rodent models of solid tumour growth and/or metastasis, especially expertise delineating the involvement of the immune system.
- Hands on experience in Western blotting, immunohistochemical staining, flow cytometry, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, etc.
- Hands on experience using rodent models of cancer growth and metastasis would be an advantage.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research, plan and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
