Postdoctoral Fellow

About the role

The Counselor will work in the Yeshiva University Counseling Center, providing individual therapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. This is a one-year postdoctoral position, and the incumbent will receive supervision toward licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services including individual psychotherapy, group therapy, referrals, and crisis intervention
• Provide consultation services to faculty and staff as needed
• Assist with outreach programs to students on campus
• Maintain an assigned caseload of patients
• Receive at least one hour a week of individual and one hour a week of group supervision toward licensure
• Maintain clinical records in compliance with State and Federal regulatory agency requirements and program policies and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Pre-doctoral internship completed before start date
• Completed all coursework toward degree in counseling or clinical psychology
• Applicants working on the completion of a doctoral dissertation will be considered
• Prior experience working in college counseling centers preferred
• Interest and experience in an area of specialty, such as eating disorders, substance abuse, women’s issues, or trauma preferred
• Interest in positive psychology and in designing and implementing programs on campus

Skills

• Skills necessary to complete intakes, create treatment plans, and implement short-term psychotherapy and group therapy with undergraduate and graduate students
• Ability to complete a suicide assessment and be involved in crisis intervention
• Proficiency in the treatment model they use, preferably familiarity with more than one treatment modality, such as CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy

Pay

$23.08–$26.44 per hour
