Postdoctoral Fellow
Location: University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine. Open Date: Aug 07, 2026.
About the role
The Wherry lab, in the Department of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics, has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow to join a CRI-funded research project. This position is part of a larger CRI Initiative to establish a data resource that will enable data-driven innovation in immunotherapy and address the translational gap between preclinical models and clinical trials. This Immunotherapy Atlas will incorporate comprehensive immune landscapes across commonly used mouse models as well as how these landscapes are altered when immunotherapy perturbations are applied. The goal for this position is to contribute to the establishment of this resource and to use it to address data-driven hypotheses that are generated based on analyses of this resource. The postdoctoral fellow will lead this project in the Wherry lab and be instrumental in integrating similar data across two additional CRI-Immunotherapy Atlas labs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the CRI‑Immunotherapy Atlas project in the Wherry lab.
- Integrate data across two additional CRI‑Immunotherapy Atlas labs.
- Apply experimental approaches to study the tumor‑immune microenvironment, including flow cytometry, scRNA (+TCR)-seq, proteomics, and spatial analysis.
- Use the Atlas to generate and test data‑driven hypotheses.
- Develop expertise in cutting‑edge technologies, large‑scale data analysis, hypothesis generation, and collaborative scientific leadership.
Qualifications
- PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree.
- Experience in immunology and/or cancer biology.
- Strong record of productivity.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
