Position Summary
The Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking applicants at the Postdoctoral level. The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree with a strong research background in neuroscience, molecular biology, immunology, genetics, or a related biomedical field. Experience in microglial biology, neuroinflammation, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), mouse models, cell culture or imaging is highly desirable. The postdoctoral fellow will join a multidisciplinary and dynamic research team focused on understanding the role of microglia in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis and neurodegeneration.
Ongoing Projects
- Investigate microglial signaling pathways
- Study neuroimmune interactions
- Explore genetic risk factors
- Identify and modulate therapeutic targets
Research Methods
- State-of-the-art genomic, transcriptomic, imaging, and functional approaches
- Prioritize experience with neurodegeneration models, microglial functional assays, biochemical assays, flow cytometry, transcriptomic analysis, or advanced microscopy
Qualifications
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment
- Self-motivated, well-organized, and comfortable mentoring graduate students in basic techniques
- Experience collecting/analyzing/interpreting data and participating in manuscript preparation and grant development
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and develop research projects with strong potential for long-term NIH funding
