Postdoctoral Associate in cryogenic electron microscopy (CryoEM)

About the role

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Tina Izard at UF Scripps in Jupiter, Florida. The successful candidate will join a well-equipped structural biology program focused on single particle cryoEM, X ray crystallography, protein biochemistry, membrane reconstitution, and quantitative biophysics.

Responsibilities

  • Drive ambitious mechanistic projects with excellent instrument access
  • Join a collaborative environment with close interaction with the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience
  • Utilize state-of-the-art structural biology infrastructure, including the cryoARM300
  • Contribute to research areas such as single particle cryoEM of membrane proteins and adhesion complexes, protein lipid interactions, and membrane reconstitution
  • Integrate structural work with cellular or infection/immunity-based readouts where appropriate

Requirements

  • Recent PhD in structural biology
  • Strong background in protein expression, purification, and biochemical characterization
  • Experience in cryoEM, X ray crystallography, or both
  • Interest in membrane proteins, lipid systems, and quantitative mechanistic biology
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Qualifications

  • Recent Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Experience in cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM)
  • Any structural biologist is highly encouraged to apply
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in cryoEM
