Postdoctoral Associate - Bannister Lab

About the role

Under the PI’s supervision, you will be responsible for chemical synthesis and design of molecules intended for biological study. This includes:

  • Reviewing literature to optimize protocols
  • Carrying out experiments at the bench
  • Using lab instrumentation (NMR, HPLC, LCMS) to validate experimental results through data analysis

The candidate must work collaboratively in a research group and within project teams to share ideas and troubleshoot research challenges, such as addressing limitations of existing lead molecules.

Responsibilities

  • Present research findings at lab meetings, project team meetings, progress reports, conferences, seminars, and symposia
  • Assist in drafting relevant publications and grant proposals
  • Use standard computer skills relevant to the job, including Microsoft Office products, ChemDraw, and PyMOL viewer

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in organic or medicinal chemistry (required)
  • Experience with structure-activity relationship studies (preferred)
  • Experience with high-throughput synthesis and/or solid phase synthesis (desirable)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Molecular modeling expertise

This position is time-limited and will be used to fill two Postdoctoral Associate roles. As part of the review process, candidates will deliver a 30-45 minute research seminar (in person or via Zoom) and meet with the PI and members of the research group.
