Postdoctoral Associate

About the role

The Meng Lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work in a molecular virology lab to study the underlying mechanism(s) of hepatitis E virus (HEV)-associated extrahepatic pathogenesis.

Responsibilities

• Utilize both in vitro and in vivo model systems to investigate how hepatitis E virus invades the central and peripheral nervous systems to cause neurological injuries leading to various neurological sequalae.
• Delineate the molecular, immunological and inflammatory mechanisms associated with hepatitis E virus infection in cells of neurovascular unit.
• Evaluate the effect of inhibitor(s) on therapeutic intervention of HEV-related neurological sequelae.
• Show good written and communication skills, and effectively collaborate with other postdoctoral associates in the lab.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in virology, immunology, cell biology or related fields.
• Ph.D. must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in viral immunology or molecular virology.

Starting at $59,500; Commensurate with experience
