About the role
The Williams Lab at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to conduct research at the intersection of cancer biology and tumor immunology. The position involves developing and managing projects that test the impact of tumor-secreted factors and metabolites on immune suppression in breast cancer liver metastases. Previous experience in in vivo experimental design and analysis is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage in vivo experiments to model breast cancer liver metastasis
- Optimize and employ human-derived models to assess tumor cell-immune cell interactions
- Collaborate with other research groups and mentor other scientists within the Williams lab
- Develop and apply for fellowship funding from relevant mechanisms
Requirements
- Doctorate degree in a biomedical science field
- Experience in cancer biology, cellular metabolism, or tumor immunology
- Advanced communication and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to efficiently plan, manage, and disseminate project results
Qualifications
- Initiative-taking and interest in simultaneously optimizing and employing human-derived models
- Ability to learn quickly and complete tasks efficiently
Skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to develop competitive proposals for fellowship funding
