Postdoctoral Associate
About the role
The Xu Lab at The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota, is seeking a highly motivated and organized postdoctoral fellow. Our research focuses on understanding how transcriptome regulation and stability govern metabolic homeostasis. We have established an integrated research platform combining metabolic physiology, bioinformatics, and RNA molecular biology. The successful candidate will investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic regulation, with the long-term goal of identifying new therapeutic strategies for obesity-related diseases.

Responsibilities
- Ongoing Research (70%)
- Participate in the design and implementation of hypothesis-driven research projects.
- Independently carry out the design and execution of experimental research required by the research component of the project.
- Develop connections with local and international researchers for collaboration.
- Analysis & Review (15%)
- Conduct analysis and review of generated data and previously reported scientific literature.
- Scientific Writing (15%)
- Write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualize new ideas, and develop plans for independent research.
Work Location
The position is primarily office/lab-based at The Hormel Institute in Austin, Minnesota, with only occasional and inconsistent remote work. The University expects employees to live in Minnesota, as it is a land-grant institution serving the state. This role is eligible for Flexible Work Profile One, which designates it as primarily on-site.
