About the role

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join The Materials Physics Department at Sandia National Laboratories. The researcher will join a new project focused on connecting device physics to computer science applications as part of a large, multi-disciplinary project that spans multiple departments and institutions including universities.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesis of materials with sputter deposition and other means
  • Clean room fabrication
  • Low and high temperature electronic transport measurements
  • Electrical testing of device structures made in collaboration with the team
  • Present results at national/international meetings and publish research in high profile peer-reviewed journals

Requirements

  • PhD in physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field
  • Hands-on experience in electronic materials synthesis and electronic properties measurement
  • A record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences

Qualifications

  • Experience with clean room fabrication
  • Experience with resistive random-access memory or other computing devices
  • Experience with electrochemistry
  • Experience with neuromorphic computing algorithms
  • Experience with Python and FPGA based testing setups
  • Experience with analog computing circuits

Benefits

Due to the nature of the work, the selected candidate must work onsite at the Sandia Livermore site. Specific activities include experimental and modeling studies of surface electronic structure and surface atomic structure and dynamics of metals, oxides, low dimensional semiconductors, and adsorbates; atomic-scale structure and composition analysis of metals, semiconductors, and composites; electrical and optical properties of low-dimensional semiconductors and optoelectronic devices; and the structural and electrochemical characterization of solid-state ionic materials.
