POSTDOC/PERMANENT POSITIONS IN MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY AT THE BULGARIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES
Job Summary
A newly formed working group from the Department of Biochemical Pharmacology and Drug Design at the Institute of Molecular Biology, “Rumen Tsanev” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) – Sofia is seeking to appoint Postdoctoral fellows with possibility for a permanent contract for research work in the promising and filled with new challenges area of “Design and development of multitargeting biologically active compound for the prevention and treatment of multifactorial diseases”.
About the Role
The Tzvetkov group have broad interests, including early drug design, synthetic chemistry and chemistry of natural products, pharmacology, nanobiotechnology, and entrepreneurship. Researchers will have the chance to develop and implement their computational skills in order to design and evolutionary investigate small molecule- and peptide-based drugs, using the latest AI or ML tools along with cell biology and synthetic chemistry subunits within the department.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement computational skills in drug design and discovery using AI/ML tools
- Contribute to the development and implementation of AI- and ML-based approaches and techniques in drug design and discovery
- Participate in multidisciplinary research projects involving computational biology and synthetic chemistry
- Explore chemical space using large chemical libraries and diverse in silico techniques
Requirements
- PhD in biochemistry, computational biology, bio(chem)informatics or a related area of molecular biosciences
- Substantial experience with molecular biology techniques and bio(chem)informatics
- Commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary research
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of the research team
Qualifications
- Strong computational expertise in drug design and discovery
- Experience with molecular docking, virtual screening, and molecular dynamics simulations
- Knowledge of bioinformatics and cheminformatics
- Ability to present data verbally and in writing
