Postdoc Opportunity at MSK: Research Scholar, Computational Oncology/Immuno Oncology
About the role
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) seeks a highly motivated computational biology postdoctoral fellow to lead translational studies in single cell and spatial biology of gastric cancer immunology and evolution. The fellow will work with an investigator group led by Drs. Santosh Vardhana (tumor immunology), Sohrab Shah (computational oncology), and Vivian Strong (gastric cancer surgery) that has established a platform for longitudinal acquisition of tumor, normal mucosa, draining lymph nodes, metastases, and peripheral blood from patients with gastrointestinal cancers and pre‑malignant lesions, including in the context of neoadjuvant therapies. This platform has generated a multimodal immune profiling dataset (flow cytometry, scRNA‑seq, spatial transcriptomics, co‑registered multiplex immunofluorescence and H&E whole‑slide images) linked to comprehensive clinical annotations, complemented by mechanistic mouse models to study immune and tumor co‑evolutionary networks in gastric tumors, draining lymph nodes, and metastases. The position is funded by a newly awarded 5‑year R01 grant to the investigator group. The successful candidate will lead the science for integrating these multimodal datasets to address fundamental unanswered questions in gastric cancer biology and the urgent clinical unmet need for gastric cancer patients, while receiving mentorship from world‑leading experts in computational oncology, immunology, pathology, GI oncology, and surgery, with opportunities to develop methodological innovations and lead discovery‑based research. Profiles of the co‑mentors are available at: Sohrab Shah lab and Santosh Vardhana lab.
