Duties And Responsibilities

• Picks up and delivers bulk mail quantities from Postal facilities, picks up mail from collection boxes or non-Postal facilities (i.e., shipping and mailing customers).
• Ascertains the condition of the vehicle prior to leaving and in returning to assigned facility; reports all accidents, notes mechanical defects, and mechanical failures during the course of the trip.
• Adheres to USPS safety procedures.
• Makes adjustments to line of travel in the event of an emergency and as soon as safely possible notifies supervision of any changes.
• Loads and unloads mail volumes and secures containers in the truck.
• Uses portable electronic scanner to make required scans and prepares daily trip reports showing work performed.
• Makes minor repairs to truck in emergencies while on route.
• Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
