Responsibilities
- Deliver mail, packages, and other materials to designated campus locations according to established routes and schedules.
- Collect departmental deposits and money bags for delivery to the Controller's Office and perform bank deposits as needed.
- Sort, process, track, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and packages using the mail tracking system.
- Provide customer service at the mailroom window by selling postage products, weighing mail, and calculating postage.
- Operate postal equipment, including the postage meter, to process mail, affix postage, and charge departments appropriately.
- Maintain the mailroom vehicle, including monitoring and refueling the gas tank as needed.
- Exercise sound judgment by identifying and reporting discrepancies or service issues.
- Provide professional, courteous service to students, faculty, staff, and external contacts.
- Ensure accuracy in mail processing and delivery.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Six months to one year of experience in postal operations, mail services, delivery, customer service, or a combination of education and experience is preferred.
- A valid driver's license is required; pick-up and delivery experience is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.
- The ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions is necessary.
- Basic math skills with the ability to use a calculator and perform simple accounting or bookkeeping functions are required.
- A satisfactory completion of successful background checks is mandatory.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move between campus buildings throughout the workday.
- Sufficient vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and verbal communication skills to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
