About the role
The postgraduate residency program at CAPS focuses on providing mental health support to students, emphasizing student-centered care and diverse student populations.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical services within a short-term counseling model, including individual, couples, and group therapy.
- Intake and referral services.
- Crisis intervention and daytime on-call coverage.
- Psychological consultation to the campus community.
- Work with medical providers in Student Health and Wellbeing Services on shared cases.
- Receive individual supervision and case consultation commensurate with the requirements for licensure.
- Contribute to training initiatives and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
- An earned master's degree in counseling or clinical psychology (e.g., leading toward licensure as an LMFT or LPCC) or in social work (leading to the LCSW) from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, or an APA/CPA-accredited program.
- Completed a practicum at the time of appointment.
- Strong interest and experience serving diverse student populations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide appropriate therapeutic interventions for students from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated understanding of factors affecting student success across diverse socioeconomic and cultural contexts.

Pay
Anticipated salary placement for residents will be $3,233 monthly, the maximum allowance in accordance with the "counselor intern" classification on the Unit 3 Faculty Salary Structure (with adjustments being made from 12 months to academic year timebase).
