About the Role
The Post Harvest Assistant Manager supports the Post Harvest Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the drying departments, ensuring efficient workflow, product quality, inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, and team performance. This position coordinates daily post-harvest activities, monitors production schedules, conducts operational audits, maintains accurate inventory and compliance records, and ensures timely movement of product through each stage of the post-harvest process.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of leading a fast-paced operation while maintaining compliance with company policies, state regulations, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Cultivation, Processing, and Production teams to maintain an accurate live production schedule.
- Maintain an open agenda for any potential changes to production plan based on production needs.
- Coordinate harvest intake and dry product movement to maximize drying capacity and operational efficiency.
- Provide production status updates throughout the shift, including available drying space and inventory readiness.
- Assist in forecasting production needs by maintaining and updating weekly forecast files.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and developing post-harvest employees.
- Conduct daily shift huddles and communicate production goals, priorities, and safety expectations.
- Assist the Post-Harvest Manager with employee scheduling, attendance management, and labor planning.
- Oversee the daily intake, tracking, transfer, and outtake of dried cannabis products with supervisor and leads.
- Verify harvest weights, batch information, and inventory movements for accuracy with Data Lead.
- Ensure all inventory transactions are properly recorded in METRC, Seed & Beyond, and other applicable tracking systems.
- Maintain complete and accurate production records while ensuring compliance with all state regulations and company SOPs.
- Conduct routine daily and weekly operational audits to verify inventory accuracy, production data, and workflow compliance.
- Immediately investigate and report inventory discrepancies, compliance issues, or product quality concerns.
- Evaluate and adjust the daily dried product production schedule for Packhouse 2 and Packhouse 3 to maximize throughput and operational efficiency.
- Proactively identify potential production constraints, communicate risks to the Post-Harvest Manager, and recommend schedule adjustments or process improvements.
- Monitor and verify environmental conditions throughout the drying process by conducting routine climate control inspections.
- Ensure systems operate within established parameters to maintain product quality and regulatory compliance, promptly escalating any deviations or equipment concerns.
- Help oversee the daily intake of fresh harvest by conducting operational walkthroughs to verify product quality, inventory accuracy, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Partner with Cultivation and Track & Trace teams to resolve discrepancies, improve communication, and ensure the seamless transfer of product through the post-harvest process.
