Research Focus Areas
Research focus areas may include substance use disorders, chronic disease management, and improving care delivery for populations served by Medicaid and other safety-net systems.
Research Responsibilities
- Initiates and participates in the design, execution and evaluation of innovative research projects.
- Day-to-day management of ongoing research projects or sections of research projects initiated by the principal investigator.
- Prepares and assists with the preparation of research proposals to federal agencies and sponsors.
- Collaborates in grant writing efforts with designated individuals from other sections or departments.
- Develops analysis plans, writes statistical analysis for descriptive statistics and advanced analysis techniques (e.g., causal inference, target trial emulation, agent-based modeling, clinical trial analysis).
- Compiles data, maintains large administrative and/or clinical datasets (e.g., Medicaid claims, EHR), creates summary tables and writes summaries of results.
- Uses quantitative approaches to evaluate healthcare delivery, treatment utilization, and outcomes.
- Authors and/or collaborates with other research staff in the preparation of peer-reviewed journal articles, reports and abstract submissions and poster presentations.
- Prepares and gives presentations to regional, state and national audiences on program development, experiences and results.
Departmental & Administrative Duties
- Assists in the training and evaluation of research technicians, students and support personnel.
- Attends and participates in departmental scientific meetings and operational meetings when appropriate.
- Complies with institutional safety, infection control, and workplace procedures.
- Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patent care may be provided.
- Adheres to institutional policies related to research compliance, data security, and human subjects protections.
- Demonstrates respect for individuals and communities, including attention to lived experience and a commitment to advancing equitable, high-quality care.
Education & Experience
- Requires MD and/or PhD.
- Post-doctoral experience relevant to the research subject is a plus but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with statistical analysis tools and database tools preferred.
- Ability to be self-directed, to prioritize essential tasks, and to balance numerous responsibilities.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in collaboration with a variety of individuals, including research scientists, clinicians, and administrators.

Compensation
Compensation Range: $65,000 - $75,000/yr
