About the role
The Postdoctoral Fellow will participate in research programs of the college and is intended to be a maximum of a 3 year appointment (2-3 years is typical). It is required that the individual develops or participates in a research program that leads to publications and grants for external funding and supports the mission of the college.
Responsibilities
- Plan and develop a research project that supports the mission of the college.
- Participate in planning and designing of experiments followed by conducting experiments in the research project.
- Perform analysis of the data generated and prepare presentation of the data for publications and grants.
- Write manuscripts and grants on the above project.
- Guide and assist students, associates and faculty in research activity.
- Aid in maintaining research laboratory.
- Implement laboratory safety protocols and animal care protocols and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required by the college to promote research.
- Supervise research activities and provide guidance to research assistants, technicians and associates working in the laboratory.
- Improve scientific knowledge of the staff so that they are clear with the objectives and goals of research programs.
Qualifications
- Must have a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Pharm.D. etc.).
- Experience in quantitative methods for HPLC and LC-MS/MS, in vitro and in vivo experiments, proficiency in working with laboratory animals (handling, cannulating blood vessels, collecting blood and monitoring cardiovascular and behavior functions) are preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work with various biomatrices (blood, urine, sputum) and ability to maintain accurate and detailed record of experiments are requirements.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and software related to scientific literature and graphics.
Skills
- High skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations, safety rules. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to top management, and boards of directors.
- Mathematical Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; highly motivated, productive team players with the ability to adapt to new projects and to work on multiple projects.
