Post Doctoral Fellow - Electrical Engineering
Summary of Job Duties
The Post-Doctoral Fellow - Electrical Engineering will work on various power electronics projects. The associated projects include medium-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) module characterizations, high power grid-tied converters development and validations, and megawatt solid state transformer development. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will mainly work on conducting research, helping in day-to-day operation of the lab, and assisting faculty to supervise graduate students.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment
- Experience in design, development and control of power electronic converters
- Experience in PCB design, gate driver design, and thermal management solutions
- Experience in one of the following 3 areas:
- Experienced in power electronic circuit theory, such as dc/dc converters, inverters, and multi-level converters
- Experience with PWM control methods
- Experience with thermal management techniques in power electronic modules and assemblies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with medium-power or medium-voltage power converters
- Proficiency in the programming of DSP or CPLD or FPGA
- Experience with wide bandgap, e.g., SiC or GaN, devices/modules packaging
- Experience in one of the following 3 areas:
- Experience in EMI filters design
- Experience in printed circuit board layout
- Experience in the design of medium- or high-frequency transformers
Additional Information
This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
Salary Information
Commensurate with education and experience.
