About the Role

The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff. A full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position is available to work under general supervision of Katherine Burns, PhD. The Burns Laboratory's research is focused on studying endometriosis, a gynecological disease that affects millions of women. The successful applicant will be involved in examining the etiology of endometriosis using a mouse model of disease and human tissue samples. The goals of the current project are to dig deeper into immunotoxicant regulation during the development of endometriosis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research experiments in a particular field within the pre-determined research scope and methodology.
• Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
• Prepare and communicate data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research results.
• Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
• Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
• Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
• May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
• Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
• Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.
• Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Qualifications

• Doctoral Degree in immunology, reproductive biology, molecular biology, or recognized terminal degree, or the equivalent foreign equivalent.
• Background in reproductive biology or immunology.
• Ability to work independently and with a team, plan and execute experiments, prepare and revise manuscripts for publication, present preliminary findings, and help mentor undergraduate/graduate students.

• Experience in spectral flow cytometry
• RT-PCR
• Primary cell culture/cell culture
• Animal handling techniques
• Mouse husbandry (desired, but not required)
• Mouse surgery (desired, but not required)
• Tissue collection (desired, but not required)
• scRNA sequencing analysis (desired, but not required)
