Banner Health is seeking a motivated and talented Post Doctoral Fellow to join our dynamic clinical research team in Tucson, Arizona. This one-year, fully funded fellowship—supported by AbbVie Clinical Trials—offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the planning, design, and execution of cutting-edge clinical research while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative healthcare environment. Banner University Medical Group is our nonprofit faculty practice plan associated with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, valuing the three-part mission of academic medicine: research, education, and excellent patient care.

About the role

This position assists in conducting innovative, high-quality research and/or clinical trials, including planning, design, and execution. The fellow may also provide clinical services under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. This is a time-limited, one-year post-doctoral educational and training fellowship.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Primary Investigator, lead portions of research projects, including planning, designing, conducting, analyzing, and interpreting innovative research.
  • Participate in grant writing.
  • Collect, organize, and record data for manuscript preparation.
  • Prepare timely reports on research findings in the form of peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
  • Engage in new or existing clinical research projects under the mentorship of research faculty.
  • Work collaboratively with other researchers across the system.
  • Communicate research findings to both internal and external audiences, including healthcare professionals and laypeople of varying educational backgrounds.
  • Under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, provide high-quality medical care in the clinical setting, demonstrating sound knowledge of the medical specialty.
  • Ensure accurate capture of patient history and chart review.

The position requires strong initiative, excellent networking capabilities, and creative problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of medicine with licensure in the state where he/she practices (MD or DO).
  • Commitment to healthcare and concern for people in distress.
  • Critical listening skills and ability to communicate clearly.
  • Desire to work with all types of people and function as a team member.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques, research methods, and data collection.
  • Strong communication, organization, and data analysis and evaluation skills.
  • Ability to maintain good rapport with other departmental personnel.

Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.

Employees working at Banner MD Anderson on the Banner University Medical Center Phoenix campus must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of their employment.
