Earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) or appropriate terminal degree. Must possess strong communication and analytical skills; thorough knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures; and the ability to implement research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting experiments using mouse models to study circadian, respiratory, metabolic, and/or neural circuit mechanisms.
  • Performing physiological and behavioral assays, which may include whole-body plethysmography, light exposure paradigms, circadian activity monitoring, metabolic phenotyping, tissue collection, histology, imaging, and related techniques.
  • Developing and troubleshooting experimental protocols in collaboration with the principal investigator and lab members.
  • Analyzing physiological, behavioral, and/or imaging data using appropriate statistical and computational approaches.
  • Preparing figures, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations for scientific meetings and peer-reviewed publication.
  • Contributing to grant reports, fellowship applications, and new research proposals.
  • Helping maintain organized laboratory records, data files, animal protocols, and standard operating procedures.
  • Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in experimental design, data collection, analysis, and scientific communication.
  • Participating actively in lab meetings, departmental research activities, and collaborative scientific discussions.
  • Supporting a lab culture that values rigor, transparency, inclusion, mentorship, and constructive feedback.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, physiology, biology, circadian biology, metabolism, respiratory physiology, behavioral neuroscience, or a related field.
  • Experience with animal research, particularly mouse models.
  • Familiarity with physiological or behavioral phenotyping approaches, such as whole-body plethysmography, indirect calorimetry, activity monitoring, sleep/circadian assays, or metabolic testing.
  • Interest in circadian biology, environmental light exposure, neural circuits, respiratory control, obesity/metabolism, or non-image-forming visual pathways.
  • Experience with histology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, viral approaches, chemogenetics, or related neural circuit methods.
