This position is supported by an NIH funded grant and is renewable based on availability of continuing funding. The successful candidate will generate new platforms to investigate the co‑evolution of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and its ligand across Drosophila species, using molecular, genetic, biochemical, and computational approaches to study how EGFR signaling levels evolved across species.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct a research project on EGFR‑ligand co‑evolution.
  • Participate in other laboratory projects related to gene regulation and tissue patterning.
  • Use genome engineering (CRISPR/Cas9), molecular biology, and biochemical tools to validate genomic alterations.
  • Apply molecular, genetic, biochemical, and computational approaches to study EGFR signaling evolution across Drosophila species.

Requirements

  • PhD in biology, developmental biology, molecular evolution and development, or a related field.
  • Experience with genome engineering (CRISPR/Cas9) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. obtained within the last 2 years (preferred).
  • Prior work with Drosophila is desirable.

Benefits

  • Medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage
