General Responsibilities And Essential Duties
- Provide expert instruction in climbing techniques, safety practices, and training methodologies to individuals and groups.
- Lead weekly practices throughout the school year.
- Coach and manage teams at both of our Portland Rock Gym locations.
- Supervise climbers during practices while upholding PRG’s values.
- Offer personalized coaching and feedback to each climber to help them overcome challenges, improve weaknesses, and achieve their climbing goals.
- Collaborate with other coaches and managers to ensure program coherence and alignment with facility goals and objectives.
- Coordinate with the Gym Manager regarding athlete access to areas during busy hours and events.
- Communicate with parents and families, addressing questions and responding to emails or Heja messages in a timely manner.
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive climbing programs tailored to climbers of varying skill levels.
Requirements
- 3-6 evenings per week or 8-15 hrs per week.
- Tech proficiency in climbing and climbing safety.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a youth coach.
- Pass background check and complete Safe Sport prior to first shift.
- Previous experience using Rock Gym Pro (RGP) is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a part-time, hourly position with compensation ranging from $19.50 to 25 per hour based on candidate availability and experience.

Working Conditions
- Many duties necessitate a flexible schedule based on business needs and events, including evenings and weekends and ability to work at both of our locations.
