Portfolio Solutions Risk Lead
About the role
This is a hybrid role based in O'Fallon, Chicago, Alpharetta, or New York. Reporting to the Regional Head of Portfolio Solutions and Delegated Authority in North America, the Portfolio Solutions Underwriter will support profitable growth through disciplined underwriting, analytical assessment, and effective collaboration across various teams.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate delegated authority portfolios across multiple lines of business, including property, casualty, and specialty
- Analyze exposure data, historical performance, and loss trends to assess portfolio quality and performance
- Assess underwriting strategy, controls, and consistency within each program
- Evaluate business at both individual program and broader portfolio levels
- Support evaluation and structuring of delegated authority and program business opportunities
- Audit participation strategies, underwriting considerations, and portfolio fit
- Partner with actuarial and modeling teams to evaluate pricing adequacy and expected performance
- Provide underwriting recommendations aligned with risk appetite and profitability objectives
- Work with brokers, program administrators, MGAs, and underwriting teams to assess opportunities
- Participate in deal discussions and negotiations
- Collaborate across underwriting, actuarial, finance, claims, operations, and governance teams
Requirements
5–10+ years of underwriting, delegated authority, program, or portfolio management experience across multiple lines of business
Strong analytical and portfolio management skills with the ability to evaluate business performance and volatility trends
Experience working with delegated authority structures, program business, or complex multi-line portfolios
Strong underwriting judgment and commercial acumen
Ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making
Qualifications
Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, or related field
Professional designations such as CFA, FRM, or similar preferred
Skills
Strong analytical and portfolio management skills
Experience with delegated authority structures, program business, or complex multi-line portfolios
Underwriting judgment and commercial acumen
Collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
Use of AI tools to support day-to-day tasks

Annualized base pay range: $97,739 to $147,652 for O'Fallon, MO, $107,913 - $163,096 for Chicago & Alpharetta, $124,609 - $188,330 for New York
