Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) is the investment firm for Liberty Mutual Group, managing over $120 billion of capital globally with a team of more than 350 investment, finance, and operations professionals in Boston and New York. LMI focuses on long‑term, integrated strategies across fixed income, equity, and alternatives, investing in diverse asset classes such as real estate, digital infrastructure, healthcare, renewable energy, and technology.

Liberty Mutual Investments is seeking a Portfolio Product Owner to own the strategy, roadmap, and business outcomes of LMI’s Enterprise Data Management (EDM) product. The role is responsible for the EDM portfolio’s vision, delivery, and stakeholder governance, working closely with Financial Products, Operational Strategy & Delivery (OS&D), Investment Accounting, the LMI Data Office, Technology, and platform vendors. This is an AI‑first position that incorporates approved generative AI into daily work and drives its responsible adoption across the product.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the EDM product vision, multi‑year strategy, and transparent roadmap aligned to investment, accounting, operational, regulatory, and technology priorities; prioritize based on business value, risk, data quality, and cost.
  • Own business outcomes for security master, price master, securities of interest, reference, issuer, FX, and cash‑flow capabilities; set and monitor measurable expectations for data quality, completeness, timeliness, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead improvements to mastering, pricing, exception management, reconciliation, workflow, and downstream distribution, driving sustained reduction of manual processing.
  • Act as the single accountable owner for portfolio intake and prioritization; own the product backlog, translate outcomes into epics, features, and stories with clear acceptance criteria and success measures.
  • Participate actively in PI planning, sprint planning, refinement, reviews, retrospectives, release planning, and demos; intervene early when commitments, dependencies, or capacity threaten outcomes.
  • Serve as the Financial Products point of accountability for EDM strategy and outcomes; build trusted relationships across OS&D, Investment Accounting, Public Markets, Private Assets, Finance, Risk, Compliance, the Data Office, and Technology.
  • Lead the EDM Product Advisory Council, define escalation paths and decision rights, and communicate risks, trade‑offs, and decisions to senior stakeholders.
  • Use approved generative AI daily for strategy, research, prioritization, scenario analysis, story drafting, test scenarios, and executive materials; validate AI output, protect confidential data, and ensure compliance with information‑security, privacy, legal, model‑risk, and Responsible AI requirements.
  • Develop and execute an AI enablement roadmap for EDM covering data onboarding, mastering, quality monitoring, exception management, reconciliation support, natural‑language data access, incident documentation, query deflection, test and regression development, and downstream self‑service.
  • Represent LMI’s product priorities in vendor roadmap, service, architecture, and escalation discussions; hold vendors accountable for commitments, quality, transparency, and sustainable remediation, and evaluate vendor advisory councils and early‑access programs.
  • Lead product direction for EDM modernization and business‑process redesign, focusing on performance, scalability, maintainability, user workflow, data model simplification, and standardized access patterns tied to measurable business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, information systems, data management, computer science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in investment management, investment operations, investment accounting, enterprise data management, or financial technology, with demonstrated product ownership of a complex platform, data product, or enterprise capability.
  • Experience with Gresham Opus EDM (Markit EDM and S&P Global EDM), GoldenSource, BNY Data & Analytics (Eagle), Rimes, or a comparable enterprise data‑management platform.
  • Strong command of security master, price master, reference data, data quality, data lineage, exception management, and downstream data consumption.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business needs into roadmaps, requirements, and measurable outcomes, and to lead cross‑functional delivery across product, technology, OS&D (or equivalent), and data teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, written communication, and executive presentation skills; sound decision‑making in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Hands‑on experience with Agile delivery, PI planning, backlog management, and cross‑product dependency management.
  • Practical use of generative AI to improve product management, analysis, or operational workflows, with disciplined human review and data‑protection practices.
  • Experience managing vendors or strategic technology partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SimCorp Dimension, Aladdin, Snowflake, WSO, eFront, or related investment platforms.
  • Background in insurance asset management or another highly regulated financial‑services environment, including public and private asset classes and investment‑accounting/NAIC data requirements.
  • Knowledge of retrieval‑augmented generation, natural‑language data access, prompt design, or agentic workflow concepts; experience introducing AI capability within a governed enterprise.
