This position is eligible for an annual incentive award and Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) pay differential. The annual incentive opportunity is 0-20% of salary and is based on the level of achievement against several quantitative and qualitative measures. Permanent full-time employees who possess certification as a CFA may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential.

About the role

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is a global institutional investor and the nation’s largest public pension fund, with assets of approximately $657.31 billion as of August 19, 2026. Our Investment Technology & Performance (ITP) team is seeking an Investment Officer (IO) III who will contribute independent analysis and support the day-to-day performance and attribution measurement and analysis activities of the Performance Team at the advanced working and lead level. The IO III will assist in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, calculation processes, and data architecture that support performance reporting and analytics, driving our CalPERS mission.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining both in-house solutions, including scalable data pipelines, and vendor solutions for sourcing, curating, transforming, and distributing portfolio data and analytics to the Investment Office (INVO).
  • Develop data management frameworks for performance and attribution data with the goal of becoming a center of excellence for portfolio data and analytics within INVO.
  • Design, implement, and manage processes, controls, and services needed to accurately monitor, measure, and report investment performance to INVO.
  • Research, develop, and implement methodologies to enhance understanding of investment performance.

Pay

$10,681.00 - $12,738.00 per month.

Schedule

Permanent, full-time. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite per week.
