Portfolio Lead

QE Solar manages well over 3 GWs of PV/BESS projects and hundreds of employees, providing renewable asset owners the most reliable service from coast-to-coast.

About the role

As a Portfolio Lead, you are accountable for excellent service, the smooth functioning of QE Solar projects, and meeting or exceeding the negotiated service-level requirements for every internal and external client engagement. Success will come from your excellent project management skills, familiarity with solar operations & maintenance, financial awareness, human resources expertise, and working knowledge of the industries each project serves.

Travel is required as needed to meet service-level requirements and for business meetings.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling required calls and meetings; performing all project activities & compliance, assigning resources as necessary. Escalates concerns to ensure projects stay on-track.
• Tracking and advising on progress against established project milestones and budgets (time, resources, materials, overall costs).
• Serving as the primary client point of contact (POC) for all day-to-day activities and management of assigned projects in the portfolio (25%).
• Ensuring consistency of outputs against QE Solar standards and client requirements. Project assignments may include operational oversight, logistical management/coordination, site audits, and communication (25%).
• Management and oversight of assigned project portfolios and battery storage systems (BESS), including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and operations. Includes occasional site visits and remote troubleshooting via smart software platforms (20%).
• Ensuring project continuity during resource shifts or redeployments. Collaborates with Commercial Assets Manager, advisors, consultants, clients, and other QE Solar team members to evolve and improve processes, practices, and services (15%).
• Developing presentations and reports using PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.
• Driving projects forward through managerial courage, candor, and independence. Ensures deadlines and project requirements are met or exceeded. Provides daily oversight and direction to field staff; participates in hiring, performance management, coaching, and training (10%).
• Knowledge creation, gathering, and recording: updates and maintains technology systems, records, operating processes, procedures, and guidelines. Other responsibilities as directed by upper management (5%).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering, Physics, or Environmental Sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of service industry, operational, and project management experience.
• 3+ years of managing direct reports preferred.
• Prior solar/renewables operations experience and battery storage (BESS) experience a plus.

Skills

• PMI certification a plus.
• Expertise in Excel, Google Workspace, MS Office, and SmartSheet.
• Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical diagrams, project design drawings, and other architectural/construction documents.
• Proficient understanding of electrical measurement tools, performance testing procedures, and product/software interfaces.
• Ability to read and interpret PVSYST models and engineering/design data.
• Inverter and/or BESS manufacturers’ certifications (e.g., SunGrow, Power Electronics, Solectria), Thermography certifications (Level 1), and IT/networking skills (MODBUS, TCP/IP, FIBER, SCADA, SEL) a plus.
• NABCEP PV Installer Certification a plus.
• Minimum OSHA 30 Certification and completion of NFPA 70E courses.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Strong familiarity with solar, renewables, BESS, and power systems (e.g., 600v-1500v DC systems).
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code, OSHA, and standard design/construction practices.
• Familiarity troubleshooting computer networks and data acquisition systems.
• General knowledge of Human Resources, Labor and Employment Law, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Entrepreneurship, Private Equity, Finance, and Auditing is a plus.
• Renewable energy, especially solar and/or photovoltaic systems experience required.

Pay

$70,000 - $80,000 per year.

Schedule

Full-time, onsite at our Springfield, NJ location.
