About the role

Porters play an essential role in ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our bakery. Porters support the overall operations by maintaining a clean and safe environment for both customers and staff, which supports the team in daily operations. Porters understand that a clean and safe space is the foundation for any workplace.

Responsibilities

People

• Team Collaboration: Lead with curiosity and compassion by showing care for your co-workers and build meaningful connections that broaden your perspective. Display a strong sense of teamwork: Work collaboratively with team members to ensure cleanliness in the store.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
• Communication: Facilitate open, clear, and timely communication with your team members and management. Ask questions or request clarification when necessary.
• Training and Development: Complete your required role training and apply all skills learned to your position. Stay up to date on MIX: complete ALL new modules for current and new product launches and operating procedures. Participate in training sessions to improve skills and knowledge. Stay informed about new products, procedures, and promotions.
• Brand Ambassadorship: Embody and promote the values and standards of Levain Bakery. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork and excellence.

Customer

• Customer Service: When in customer areas, greet customers with a warm and welcoming demeanor. Foster a customer-focused culture within the bakery, where every team member prioritizes the customer experience.

Operations

• Store Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the store, including customer areas, restrooms, and workspaces, throughout the shift. Sweep floors and sidewalk, mop, and dust areas where needed. Communicate any maintenance issues to management.
• Washing & Sanitizing: Wash, sanitize, restock dishes, trays, baking tools, and other supplies. Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for customers and staff: Ensure all surfaces, floors, and equipment are clean and sanitized.
• Opening & Closing Duties: Assist with the setup and breakdown of bakery displays and equipment. Clean, sanitize, and maintain anti-fatigue floor mats. Empty trash in bathrooms, workstations, and customer-facing areas throughout the day. Maintain cleanliness inside waste bins.
• Inventory Management: Assist in restocking and organizing inventory and adhere to guidelines given from Cookie Lead or management.
• Receiving & Deliveries: Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries, ensuring proper storage of dry and refrigerated goods.
• Operations Support: Support the team in daily operations, including light food preparation and packaging as needed.
• Waste Management: Empty trash in bathrooms, work stations, and customer-facing areas throughout the day. Maintain cleanliness inside the waste bins.

Requirements

• Previous custodian or porter experience in F&B or retail is preferred
• Open availability: ability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to lift/push up to 50 pounds, including overhead
• Stand/walk for an 8-hour shift (excluding a ½ hour break); some locations require walking up and down stairs

Pay

$18-20.25/hour
