Porter

About the role

SYNC at Harmony is seeking a Porter to join our service team. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, have a positive attitude, and be customer service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Walk all grounds, parking lots or garages, pool areas, amenity spaces, and common areas to remove all waste items and ensure the community is at peak presentation.
• Manage and move trash compactors and dumpsters based on community collection schedule.
• Complete power washing and other similar preventative maintenance projects as assigned.
• Empty garbage receptacles and pet waste stations throughout the community.
• Clean pet park and remove pet waste.
• Monitor and report concerns on landscaping and irrigation system conditions on behalf of the service team.
• Enter work orders for any noted areas throughout the community that need attention.
• Assist in the make-ready process as needed.
• Pick up and clean the entire community exterior including amenities and common areas daily using company-supplied materials and equipment.
• Provide non-technical support to other on-site staff positions.
• Clean and pick up trash from around trash dumpsters, ensuring a clean and tidy appearance.
• Clean and arrange furniture and trash receptacles in pool area(s). Test chemical level of pool water daily and maintain proper chemical balance. Possess pool operator’s certificate.
• Maintain club facilities, office, and all other amenity and common area facilities in an orderly, presentable, and decorative fashion.
• Maintain cleanliness of grounds, laundry rooms, walkways, streets, driveways, parking lots, entrances, foyers, breezeways, and recreational areas.
• Perform exterior building light checks and assist with repairs and replacement.
• Perform supplemental landscape maintenance and irrigation system repair, including watering lawn and landscape areas.
• Perform extensive in-house landscape and gardening duties such as mowing, edging, trimming, sweeping, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, and planting as needed.
• Thoroughly clean out vacated apartments designated by supervisor and prepare for make-ready, including carpet repairs, dyeing, and shampooing.
• Incorporate safety and customer service in all job duties.
• Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
• Remove, relocate, and/or install furniture and other household items in designated apartments or buildings.
• Support unscheduled maintenance on an “as needed” basis (e.g., digging ditches, breaking up concrete, lifting a/c compressors).
• Post notices as required or instructed by supervisor.
• Travel to suppliers to pick up parts and supplies as directed.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• General janitorial, groundskeeping, or porter experience preferred.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must work one weekend per month for grounds/amenities hours.
• Valid Driver’s License.
