About the role

As a Porter at RWB Thrift, you are the air-traffic controller of the backroom, anticipating the needs of the production support staff ahead of time, ensuring supplies are available and in the correct place. You play a vital role in maintaining a safe work environment by prioritizing cleanliness, organization, and flow of the production floor. You are aware of the walkways and removing hazards for the production floor team.

Responsibilities

• Transport items between departments and assist with supply movement as needed
• Maintain inventory of supplies and notify management when supplies need replenishment
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe and clean environment for customers and staff
• Provide excellent customer service by anticipating the needs of the production staff so they can accelerate their workflow
• Trailer Loader / Unloader: safely and efficiently load and unload items from delivery trucks or trailers (furniture, boxes of clothing and household goods, electronics, other donated items); sort and organize items, document arrivals, safely move merchandise to designated areas within the store; communicate with team, adhere to safety protocols, follow store procedures
• Trash Compactor Operator: operate and maintain trash compactor equipment, ensure proper disposal of discarded items, compact waste materials to optimize space; maintain clean and organized workspace
• Organizer: oversee supply management within the backroom; receive, organize, and replenish supplies such as hangers, sensors, racks, carts, and bins; ensure timely availability of supplies on the production floor

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures for cleaning and maintenance tasks
• Physical Requirements: Ability to safely perform job functions per ADA, FMLA, etc.; occasionally lift and carry up to 70 lbs, frequently exert up to 25 lbs of force, constantly apply negligible force when handling objects; able to stand for extended periods; proficient in repetitive motions; fine motor skills; balance and agility; visual acuity (clarity at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more)
• Language Requirements: Employees not required to communicate exclusively in English; however, fundamental understanding of written and spoken English may be necessary for comprehending instructions and communicating verbally and in writing with customers, donors, colleagues, supervisors who primarily use English
• Work Environment: Thrive in fast-paced, busy atmosphere; ability to work effectively in noisy environment; bright lighting throughout front and back of store; regular interactions with customers, donors, coworkers; high degree of flexibility to switch tasks or departments as needed

Pay

$16.50 to $18.50 per hour
