Port Services Engineer

About the role
To sell and promote Wilhelmsen Ships Service Network, Products, Services, and Concepts in a professional way in ports and terminals. Satisfy the immediate needs of our customers in the port, making them aware of ongoing campaigns and providing technical support. Carry out inspections and tests on shipboard systems and equipment across the various marine solution areas within the WSS portfolio, and perform product demonstrations as required or identified as necessary.
You will report to the Area Port Service Manager and work closely with the rest of the team to promote Wilhelmsen Ships Service.
Responsibilities
- Continuously promote WSS products and services to current and potential customers using campaign materials and tools.
- Initiate and maintain continuous contact with Ports, Terminals, Dry Docks, Repair Yards, and Ship’s Agents to identify opportunities and gather information about Charterers, vessel arrival times, and key crew members (Captain, Superintendents, etc.). Communicate with them before or on arrival to provide first-class service and secure orders or enquiries for WSS.
- Visit vessels upon request for specific services and assist the crew with port deliveries where applicable.
- Prioritize vessel visits based on customer category, global business value, and sales potential.
- Report vessel visit outcomes in relevant systems according to defined processes.
- Promote all Solutions and carry out defined services, inspections, and installations using agreed technical competencies.
- Complete and issue relevant documentation after every visit or service on board.
- Ensure customers experience port service interactions as professional, valuable, and pleasant.
- Obtain customer feedback on matters affecting satisfaction and report it in Salesforce, including any customer complaints.
- Report competitor activities in the port to the Area Port Service Engineer Manager.
- Support customers and the sales force during vessel sales or purchases (e.g., cylinder count, new orders, additional product/services needed).
Requirements
- Medium vocational technical or marine training.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the marine industry.
- Sales experience.
- Versatile and adaptable to varied working conditions.
- Good physical condition.
Skills
- Very good command of the English language (spoken and written).
- Computer literate.
- Ability to communicate effectively within a multinational environment.
- Ability to manage and motivate own and externally employed service personnel.
- Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
