Responsibilities
- Repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions at all hours.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
- Work with company mechanics as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance requirements on a fleet of tugs and barges as directed by the General Manager/Port Engineer.
- Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and procedures.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Cummins, Caterpillar, John Deere Engines.
- Knowledge of Twin Disc gears, Barge pumps, PTO’s.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical systems and components.
- Knowledge of the oil transportation and maritime industry.
- Knowledge of tug and barge maintenance systems and equipment.
- Work well with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
- Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port in all weather conditions.
- Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
- Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.
- Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over the telephone.
- Valid state drivers' license and clean driving record.
- Valid TWIC Card.
- HAZWOPER training within 90 days of being hired.
- AED First Aid and CPR training.
