POOL- Instructor- Professional Studies

About the Role

Part-time instructor positions in the Bachelor of Professional Studies program at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus. Instructors teach undergraduate-level online courses in an asynchronous format, with assignments based on curricular need, student enrollment, and funding availability. This position is instructional only, with no research or service obligations, and is governed by a collective bargaining agreement.

Due to state employment laws, the university may be unable to hire fully remote workers residing in California, Delaware, Idaho, or Minnesota. The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and presents recorded weekly content lectures (30%).
• Provides timely, meaningful feedback on assignments both verbally and via the learning management system to support student growth and maintain an inviting classroom climate (30%).
• Maintains office hours at times convenient for working adult students and responds promptly to student questions via email, demonstrating awareness of and respect for diversity (20%).
• Updates existing PowerPoints, assignment instructions, and discussion boards in Canvas to support student learning and maintains well-organized, accurate course content (20%).

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Business, Education, Communication Studies, Project Management) or a closely related field.
• A demonstrated record of teaching in an academic setting or professional mentorship, leadership, or training experience.
• Intermediate to advanced technical skill in using online meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom) for participant engagement and adult learning (e.g., breakout rooms, polling).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience creating and managing course content in a learning management system (e.g., Canvas), including structuring modules, grading, and maintaining social presence in asynchronous courses.
• Doctorate in a relevant discipline (Business, Education, Communication Studies, Project Management) or a closely related field.

Pay

$6,500 per 3-credit-hour course per semester.
