Position Overview

The University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications seeks applications for part-time Instructors to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses on the Lawrence campus. Positions are temporary and not eligible for tenure or promotion, with appointments lasting up to two continuous semesters.

Job Description

  • Primary duties include teaching in a specific field, developing course materials, creating lectures and assignments, grading student work, and holding student office hours.

  • Instructors are expected to collaborate with colleagues, stay current in their field, and adhere to departmental, school/college, and university policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Level Courses: Master's degree and two years professional experience related to the subject to be taught, or a Bachelor's Degree in the discipline and 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline and 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Graduate Level Courses: PhD, JD, MD, or other post-graduate doctoral degree, and two years of professional experience related to the subject, or scholarly research or creative work suitable to the subject taught.

  • Digital and Integrated Marketing Communications - Graduate Level Courses: PhD, JD, MD, MFA, or other post-graduate doctoral degree, and two years of professional experience related to the subject, or scholarly research or creative work suitable to the subject taught.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience, and/or

  • A documented record of successful teaching at the post-secondary level.
