Polysomnographic Technologist Night Shift

About the role

This position independently performs prescribed diagnostic sleep monitoring studies, which may include home sleep tests, to patients. This position analyzes the results to aid clinicians with diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and care of patients. This position acts as a resource to the department.

Responsibilities

• Obtains artifact-free sleep tracings that accurately reflect physiologic processes occurring during sleep of patients utilizing the latest technology.
• Analyzes all types of sleep records of patients.
• Identifies and documents sleep stages and quantifies physiologic processes during the data acquisition and summarizes this information as outlined by departmental policies and procedures.
• Collections and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and demographic information.
• Ensures an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to troubleshoot minor problems and make adjustments as needed during the testing process.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a recognized sleep technologist training program.
• Current certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience in sleep laboratory setting preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Skills

• Knowledge of polysomnography equipment and techniques.
• Proficiency in computer systems and software used in sleep lab settings.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
