Polymer Operator I

About the Role

Operates mixing and packaging equipment systems used in the processing of chemical substances, adhering to formulation specifications and operational safety standards. Cleans and maintains plant manufacturing areas and equipment regularly to promote environmental cleanliness and efficiency.

Attends and participates in shift meetings and safety sessions, providing accurate reporting and confirmations for shift changes and completing job safety evaluations as requested. Reviews product specifications and formulations to ensure proper safety equipment, tool usage, and material specifications using specified checklists.

Leads the quality review of equipment operation and production outcomes, troubleshooting manufacturing processes and results for potential errors or issues and reporting them as necessary. Conducts “in process” laboratory testing according to Quality Control and Assurance protocol.

Responsibilities

• Operate mixing and packaging equipment systems in compliance with formulation specifications and safety standards.
• Clean and maintain plant manufacturing areas and equipment regularly.
• Attend shift meetings and safety sessions, providing accurate reporting and confirmations.
• Review product specifications and formulations for safety equipment, tool usage, and material specifications.
• Lead quality reviews of equipment operation and production outcomes, troubleshooting issues as needed.
• Conduct in-process laboratory testing per Quality Control and Assurance protocols.
• Obtain and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed, maintaining its condition and storage.

Requirements

• Knowledge of hazardous waste materials and appropriate handling and disposal procedures.
• Basic mathematical and computer literacy skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic manufacturing safety and OSHA guidelines.
• Working knowledge of polymer manufacturing specifications and raw materials (preferred).
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including overnight and weekend hours.
• Ability to continuously lift 50-55 lbs.
• Ability to meet and maintain established occupational demands and fitness for duty requirements.
