Polymer Additive Manufacturing Engineering Intern

About the role

The Advanced Manufacturing Process Development Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is seeking undergraduate students to perform polymer additive manufacturing experiments. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and execute experimental builds on polymer 3D Printers
  • Use python code and MongoDB database to record data during experimental builds
  • Troubleshoot and resolve 3D printer maintenance issues
  • Mechanical testing of 3D printed test specimens
  • Assist R&D team in data analysis
  • Prepare reports on results of testing
  • Present on results to sponsors

Requirements

  • Students studying Aerospace, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply

Qualifications

You will be subject to a government security investigation, and you must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Schedule

The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer.
