Police Officer Trainee

About the role

The City of Escondido is seeking a Police Officer Trainee to join its dedicated team. The position offers a starting salary of $6,975/month for FLETC graduates and $7,323/month for Academy graduates.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas by car, bike, motorcycle or on foot.
• Answer calls for assistance, including investigating crimes, deaths, accidents, and injuries.
• Enforce laws and ordinances, direct traffic, and make arrests.
• Provide first aid in emergency situations.
• Investigate suspicious circumstances and serve warrants.
• Transport prisoners to the county jail.
• Communicate with the public and provide information.
• Participate in training courses and programs.

Requirements

• Fingerprinted and passed a background check.
• Not convicted of a felony.
• Good moral character as determined by a polygraph examination.
• Passed a medical and psychological evaluation.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must not be less than 21 years old at the time of appointment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Pass a written test.
• Valid Class C California driver’s license.
• Pass a POST physical examination, including vision, hearing, color vision, and physical fitness tests.

Skills

• Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques of peace officers.
• Ability to interpret, apply, and make decisions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Ability to analyze emergency situations and respond quickly and effectively.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to lift and move objects of moderate to heavy weight.

• FLETC Graduate: $6,975/month
