About the role

The Police Officer - Patrol Full-Time position is responsible for enforcing laws, providing security, and maintaining public safety within the City of Fairhope, Alabama.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols community areas ensuring compliance with state and local laws.
  • Responds to and investigates complaints, preparing detailed reports.
  • Provides backup support to other law enforcement officers and conducts traffic control at events.
  • Operates various equipment, issues traffic citations, and responds to accidents.
  • Assists in medical emergencies and conducts crime scene investigations.
  • Maintains and investigates civil and criminal process, including serving court papers and executing warrants.
  • Engages in public relations and safety activities to promote community awareness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Aged 20 years or older and a U.S. citizen.
  • APOSTC certification.
  • A valid driver's license and insurability.
  • Firearm, NCIC, Draeger, Taser, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
  • Ability to work nonstandard hours and travel as required.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and initial drug screen.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 20 years old and a U.S. citizen.
  • Must hold an Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) certification.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.
  • Must possess firearm, NCIC, Draeger, Taser, First Aid, and CPR certifications and be able to maintain these certifications.
  • Must be able to wear required safety and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to work nonstandard hours, rotating shifts, and respond to emergency calls.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.

Benefits

  • Starting pay rate of $23.00 per hour.
  • Additional pay based on prior Law Enforcement experience, military experience, higher education, and current certifications held.

Pay

  • $23.00 - $26.01 per hour.

Schedule

  • Rotating shifts and availability for emergency call-backs.
