Responsibilities
- Enforce laws and ordinances
- Investigate criminal activity
- Provide emergency medical assistance
- Respond to calls for service
- Maintain public order and safety
Requirements
- Currently an Oregon police officer
- Certified police officer in another U.S. state and meets the definition of a lateral candidate (see below)
- Eligible for Oregon police officer certification without attending the DPSST Basic Police Course
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation
- Must be at least 21 years old
