The City of Independence Police Department is accepting applications for Lateral Police Officers to join our team of dedicated public safety professionals.

The City of Independence Police Department seeks individuals with law enforcement experience to serve as Lateral Police Officers. The department values commitment, professionalism, and dedication to public safety.

Responsibilities

• Enforce laws and ordinances
• Investigate criminal activity
• Provide emergency medical assistance
• Respond to calls for service
• Maintain public order and safety

Requirements

• Currently an Oregon police officer
• Certified police officer in another U.S. state and meets the definition of a lateral candidate (see below)
• Eligible for Oregon police officer certification without attending the DPSST Basic Police Course

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must pass a comprehensive background investigation
• Must be at least 21 years old

Pay
