About the role

The City of Casa Grande is seeking Certified Officers to join our team. Applicants must be currently certified as a Peace Officer in Arizona or another state.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas to protect life and property through enforcing laws and ordinances.
  • Respond to citizens' requests for assistance, enforce traffic regulations, detect crime, apprehend violators, and ensure public safety.
  • Interrogate and communicate with victims, witnesses, and suspects in cases.
  • Complete detailed reports and required paperwork.
  • Arrest law violators; transport and process suspects, victims, and prisoners; serve arrest and search warrants; serve and enforce orders of protection.
  • Respond to mental health calls for service and assist with arranging services and transportation with mental health providers.
  • Represent the City Police at court hearings; prepare reports and testify in court cases.
  • Investigate crimes and accidents as required; secure and process crime and accident scenes; identify and collect evidence.
  • Present education and information through community and school awareness projects; counsel citizens on law enforcement activities, programs, and referral resources.
  • Assist other Police personnel, outside organizations, and businesses, and Federal, state, and local law enforcement organizations.
  • Participate in problem-oriented policing efforts by identifying problem areas, recommending and implementing solutions, and monitoring the results.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of related work experience.
  • Currently have Peace Officer Certification either Arizona or out of state.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a current AZ POST certification and have no misconduct associated with their certification.
  • All applicants must pass the AZ POST waiver test in lieu of attending an Arizona peace officer academy if they are not currently certified in Arizona.
  • Testing consists of a physical agility examination (POPAT), AZ POST daytime pistol qualification, oral board and command staff interview. There is no written examination.

Salary posted is subject to final approval and will be effective July 1st.
