POLICE OFFICER (Experienced)

About the role

The Huntington Beach Police Department is looking for qualified experienced police officers. This recruitment is continuous and future testing dates will be posted at a later date.

Responsibilities

• Perform police duties in an assigned division; uniform, investigation, special services or administrative services.
• Patrol an assigned area of the City by car, motorcycle, or helicopter and investigate suspicious conditions; respond to emergency calls and provide emergency assistance.
• Investigate disturbances, complaints, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, holdups, vehicle accidents, deaths, suicides, etc.; gather and preserve evidence; prepare reports and set up case files.
• Direct traffic, issue warnings and citations, apprehend criminals, transport prisoners, serve warrants and subpoenas, and testify in court.
• Train police recruits and other sworn personnel; compile statistics; analyze bureau activities and report on efficiency of programs.

Requirements

• One (1) year of sworn police officer experience AND successful completion of the probationary period.
• Out-of-state candidates must have completed Step 2 of the California POST Basic Waiver program prior to applying.
• Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one prior to date of hire.

Qualifications

• Completion of twelfth grade or equivalent.
• Specific courses are required for advancement within the department.

Skills

• Knowledge of public safety laws and rules.
• Ability to apply public safety laws and rules to daily situations.
• Ability to analyze problems and take effective action in emergency and stress situations.

Benefits

Pay

SALARY June 24, 2023: $7,561 - $9,365 Monthly
June 22, 2024: $7,939 - $9,833 Monthly
June 21, 2025: $8,336 - $10,325 Monthly
