Police Officer - Entry Level

About the role

The Yorkville Police Department seeks to hire an entry-level police officer to join their team. The department is part of the City of Yorkville, Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Provide law enforcement services within the city limits.
• Respond to emergency calls and non-emergency situations.
• Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
• Work rotating 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

• No felony convictions (or any misdemeanor conviction involving moral turpitude).
• Valid driver's license.
• Age between 20 and 35 years old at the time of application (unless otherwise exempt by Statute).
• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Associate's degree from an accredited community college or junior college, -OR- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, -OR- 60 credit hours towards a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, -OR- 24 months of honorable active duty in the service of the United States Armed Forces -OR- 180 days of active combat duty in the service of the armed forces of the United States, as recognized by the Department of Defense, and not discharged dishonorably or under less than honorable conditions.
• Mandatory on-line examination to be held September 8 -10, 2026.

Pay

Starting salary: $75,879.22 (Associate's Degree), $77,395.71 (Bachelor's Degree)

Pay tops out in 5 years: $104,959.83 (Associate's Degree), $107,511.36 (Bachelor's Degree)
