About the role

The City of Williamsburg Police Department seeks a Police Officer (Certified or Recruit) to enforce laws, take citizen complaints, assist citizens, process crime scenes, and more.

Responsibilities

• Enforce laws and regulations
• Take reports of citizen complaints
• Perform traffic enforcement and escorts
• Aid citizens in need
• Calm domestic disturbances
• Aid motorists
• Provide local information and directions
• Process crime scenes
• Render emergency first aid
• Aid the fire department
• Aid human services
• Assist the public during natural or precipitated disasters
• Investigate missing persons
• Serve as a parking officer
• Assist other law enforcement agencies

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Acceptable criminal background check and drug screen results
• Valid Virginia driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to perform activities listed above and meet minimum qualifications
• At least 21 years of age
• Good mental and physical health
• Vision correctable to 20/30 and no color blindness
• Of good moral character
• No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude
• No convictions of a crime involving Domestic Violence
